Hello blog! Sorry for not posting. I AM making up to you now :)


Why am I happy? Because.. Mails from my favorite bloggers that I got since I started this blog. Wee


"As far as making your blog interesting, and improving it, well the main thing I always look for in a blog is personality. I love reading blogs where the writer's character shines through. So don't be afraid to express your opinions, be yourself, and say whatever the hell you want. Never write what you think people want to hear. Never do what you think will be "popular", because in the end it won't make you happy. So really, just focus on making your blog what you want it to be." This is one part of 'the' mail, which is an inspiration for me to write a new post. I know. My source of inspiration is really really simple. But, everyone out there, this is who I am, for now. I'm just a simple girl next door, camera-shy of course. (that explains why I don't have outfit pictures) Gah. That's not the real reason. My camera is at the service center. That's why :(


I am seriously, super happy when I got that mail! My jaw opened real wide. ah hah... I definitely need some joy like this in my life now! Since I don't have outfit pictures to post, I Shall feature some of my favorite fashion bloggers, whose character shines through, like I know what it's like to meet that person when I'm reading their blog.


1st, two bloggers that started the 'whole' thing. Fyi, I was a girl who wears surf pants all the time; I was quite plump; and I don't know what is style. Told ya, I AM really simple. But, since I started reading fashion blogs, my style starts to change. I wear skirts and dresses; I know how to dress up, because I enjoy doing so! Kudos to this two bloggers who inspired me! :)

Ta dah. This is Lee Ming of  the childlike empress. We are from the same town. Coincidence. By the way, don't you think her skirt is lovely? Do check her out .
Oh. She has her own shop too. Lee Ming's shop. Hope you guys can show some love :)

I present to you (drum roll) - My Pen Pal! I like to call Jen of jennifhsieh my pen pal. hee
Thanks to fashion, I had the courage to send a mail to Jen, saying how much I love her blog.
It was Love at First Sight! hah.. Our friendship pretty much goes on from there. She is LOVELY!

Next favorite blogger! Tieka of Selective Potential.. Her blog is really cheerful and full of optimism.
I LOVE her blog a lot!

This is Rebecca of The Clothes Horse! She is one of my favorite fashion bloggers too.
While reading one of her posts, I thought she implied she don't wear her outfits out in real life all of the time; It turns out that she did not mean to imply that.
She meant: she would not wear the clothes out if she didn't have a blog to remember them on.
She still wear all the outfits we see here out and about in her life.
And, Rebecca is really good in taking awesome pictures on her own!

It seems that every time I write a post, it ends up long, like an essay. A warning to you all, I AM a granny deep down, who likes to go on and on. You can call me Granny Mei, I give you the permission to do so. haha xo

Blue Black

My arm is swollen now. And it's Blue Black! That's how my title came along. (I'm such a creative person! xo)


Anyway, I'm really really behind on blogging. Some bad things happened and I felt really discouraged and disappointing. Luckily I have my friends and family to show me how much they love me; how much they want me to stand up from where I fell down; how much trust they have in me, that I can succeed in life despite having bad results. There. I said it. One of the bad things that happened is my bad A-levels results. That is a major requirement for me to enter university. Or, the university that I want. Now that my results are bad, I can't study overseas. =(


Well, don't worry! I'm all charged and thinking POSITIVE! In life, we should move on and look forward to our future. Why? Because our future is so uncertain. But, only we ourselves can turn uncertainties into possibilities in life! So, Fighting! (That's what Koreans say to encourage people. Cute right? xo)


My post is getting really Blue and Black. Cross my heart, that is not my intention initially. Since this is a fashion blog personal blog, I ought to show you pictures that I really really like, that include the colors Blue and Black. There. That's MY intention initially. =)

Hello, World!

Hello, World! What 'a' title. My name is Mei Lan. Hi everyone! Welcome to (fashion, new blog). After taking a huge break from the blog world, I have decided that I want to continue blogging, but start a new one. I want a fresh start. I started my old blog in Nov 09, with crappy pictures, immature thinking and a somewhat lost sense of style and self. It’s been one and a half years since then, and I’ve learned a lot, but I’m still learning. And that’s one reason I’m here, to somehow figure it all out as I go.

I’ve been reading fashion blogs for quite some time now. I’ve been wanting to join the community of fashion bloggers because I could get to know more people. I want to be more creative with my wardrobe too. 

I don't want to start this blog at first though. But, after going through things, I thought why not? Why not be like all my favorite bloggers out there, doing their own Thing? 

So here goes!

One picture of myself that I like. With my best friend on the left. I am really particular when it comes to choosing pictures. I can do crazy faces in front of the camera all the time. But only with friends. Actually, I am a camera-shy person. hee

My cousin on the left. I choose this picture because of my outfit. This is the only appropriate outfit picture to post on this blog. Oops.. Told ya. I am camera-shy.

A blurry outfit picture. My best friend took this for me. But I got impatient and moved. The result? Blur but you can almost see what I was wearing. Not many people wear tights and walk around in the mall LIKE me at my hometown. I got stares from people all day.

A crazy picture of me. An impromptu one by my cousin. This is what I look like when I laugh too hard. I name this picture 'Total Opposites'. That's my cousin in red. hah

Finally, I finished my first post. It's not really about fashion. But rather, just a first look into my life. A really simple and ordinary girl-next-door. I'll try to be more creative and start mixing clothes in my wardrobe.

I am welcoming whoever is reading this first post, as well as myself, to blogspot.com. 

I would like this blog to reflect not just fashion, which is primarily why I started blogging, but also, my life. At this point, I don't mind who reads it, though I do hope one day I will have readers - it will not be my focus.

Please bear with me in this beginning period as I develop this blog, while (hopefully) developing something within me at the same time. I'm thinking something new; maybe even original. Be warned: as much as I’d love to make this merely a personal style blog, I don’t have the self-control. This will probably be a strange mash-up of anything and everything that I have on my mind.
